PUTRAJAYA, 31 AUGUST 2025 – Malaysian-founded CARSOME joined the nation in celebrating its 68th Hari Kebangsaan at the Merdeka Parade in Putrajaya, marching for the first time alongside national football and motorsport heroes.
The spirited convoy featured 62 members of the CARSOME family, dressed in CARSOME’s signature black and yellow that incorporates Harimau Malaya stripes. This year’s celebration carried added meaning as it also marked CARSOME’s 10th anniversary, a decade of growing with and for the people of Malaysia.
At the heart of the convoy were two CARSOME pickup trucks with the company’s co-founders, Eric Cheng and Teoh Jiun Ee, together with Malaysia’s former twin football strikers, as well as motorsport legends:
Dato’ Dollah Salleh, Former National Football Player and Vice‑President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM)
Dato’ Zainal Abidin Hassan, Former National Football Player and Executive Committee member of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM)
Karamjit Singh, the first Malaysian and Asian to win the Fèdèration Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Production Car World Rally Championship
YS Khong, a five-time Malaysian Rally Champion

CARSOME was represented at the parade under the leadership of its Chief People Officer, Mohd Afifi Zahari, who had the honour of carrying the company’s flag. The contingent reflected the breadth of CARSOME’s workforce, comprising colleagues from headquarters, operations, vehicle inspectors, and CARSOME consultants from branches nationwide. They were joined by students from CARSOME Academy, the company’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program, which plays a vital role in nation-building while advancing the future of Malaysia’s automotive industry.
Eric Cheng, CARSOME Co-Founder and Group CEO, said, “Merdeka is about independence, resilience, unity, and passion. These values and the spirit of Merdeka continue to shape Malaysia’s journey and inspire its people. CARSOME is a proud anak Malaysia, deeply rooted in this spirit and the aspirations of our nation.”
“Joining the Merdeka Parade alongside our sporting heroes and colleagues reminds us that progress is a collective effort. It is through unity and shared purpose that we have built our journey, and with the same belief, we will continue to place our customers first, keeping Malaysians at the forefront of our local business,” he added.
CARSOME marked the celebration by handing over RM500,000 worth of vouchers for vehicle services, road tax renewals, and battery replacements to the organisers to be shared with attendees, as part of its commitment to customer care and accessible car ownership.
The Merdeka Parade is also a celebration of national pride and a chance for CARSOME to thank Malaysians for the trust that has shaped its journey from a local start-up into Southeast Asia’s largest integrated car e-commerce platform.
