Shah Alam, 28 June 2025 — At CARSOME, we believe meaningful transformation begins with open, honest conversations that challenge the status quo and explore new possibilities. This belief was reinforced by our Chief People Officer, Mohd Afifi Zahari, during the Konvensyen Wanita Selangor 2025, where he joined fellow changemakers in a panel titled “Melangkaui Stereotaip: Memupuk Bakat Wanita dalam Teknologi dan Bidang Berteraskan Manusia.”

Drawing from CARSOME’s own journey, Afifi spoke about the importance of designing workplaces where women are not only welcomed but supported and empowered to succeed.

“Women are not just part of the workforce; they are essential to our long-term growth strategy,” Afifi explained. “We are not only talking about gender equality; we are creating an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. When we do that, we unlock the full potential of our people, which drives our success.”

Afifi was joined by Dr. Ong Kian Ming, former Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry and board member of MIDA, and Dr. Haniza Khalid, a researcher and advisor for Selangor’s Care Economy Council, as well as former Senior Development Economist, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Country Office for Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam. The session was moderated by YB Lim Yi Wei, State Assemblyperson for Kampung Tunku, and explored how we can break stereotypes and open up more equitable pathways for women.

Afifi also shared how CARSOME’s values are reflected in its workforce today:

  • 27 of our Branch Managers are women

  • Over 70% of our Quality Assurance team are women, led by a female manager

  • Women lead teams across Product, Tech, and Data

But Afifi was clear; representation is only one part of the story. “It is not just about hiring women but ensuring they feel empowered to stay, grow, and have their voices heard,” he added.

CARSOME was also represented by Mohd Nizam bin Mahat, Head Trainer for TVET at CARSOME Academy, who conducted a workshop titled “Dari Enjin ke Pemeriksaan: Meneroka Industri Automotif.” His session introduced participants to the fundamentals of the automotive industry and the core skills required to become a vehicle inspector, part of CARSOME Academy’s broader mission to open up technical career pathways and build a skilled, future-ready workforce.

In addition to the speaking engagements, CARSOME’s Talent Acquisition team was also on the ground, setting up a booth to engage with attendees. The team shared insights into various roles available across the organisation, and provided information on job opportunities for those looking to grow their careers in the automotive and tech space.

CARSOME’s participation in the Konvensyen Wanita Selangor 2025 underscores our commitment to shaping a more inclusive industry, one where leadership is defined not by gender, but by capability, vision, and impact.
